"What computer equipment have we donated?"






The hardware configurations at the supported schools are broadly similar. The schools' computer systems are built on a Microsoft platform.

Origin of the computer hardware

None of the equipment installed at the supported schools is second-hand or refurbished. All of the equipment and all of the services required to set up and support the computer laboratories at the schools are sourced from within South Africa.

Educational software

State-of-the-art educational software is provided at the supported schools. The software vendor is the CAMI Software company.

Physical infrastructure

The following infrastructure is provided in the computer laboratories in the supported schools:

  • Security features:
    • CPU locks
    • Infra-red detectors & CCTV cameras
    • Burglar bars, stone guards, razor wire
    • Security doors
  • Electrical systems
  • Uninterrupted power supplies
  • Computer cabling systems
  • Air-conditioning units
  • Workbenches and chairs
  • Window blinds
  • Carpeting/tiling for the floors in the computer laboratories
